More than 8,000 drugs are covered by the public drug insurance plan. They can be found in a regularly updated list.
This measure allows the entire population to obtain coverage for certain drugs. For each of the exception drugs, the payment instructions are grouped together in the appendix of that particular list of drugs. The periodic updating of this list may result in the addition or withdrawal of exceptional drugs or changes to the payment instructions.
To obtain authorization for an exceptional drug, an insured person must first obtain approval from the Régie. To do so, a request for authorization must be submitted by an accredited prescriber.
